The Archivists of Central Texas will take a tour of the Vertebrate Paleontology Laboratory (VPL) at the Pickle Research Campus on Tuesday, June 9 at 3:30p.

From their website: “The Vertebrate Paleontology Laboratory (VPL) is known worldwide as a major repository for unique scientific collections from the American Southwest…Today, VPL is the principal repository for vertebrate fossils collected from state and federal lands in Texas…”

VPL is where all of the fossils that fill the Texas Memorial Museum come from. I also heard that they have a mastodon skull.

The tour is limited to 20. Please sign up!

We will make a second attempt to follow with a happy hour at C. Hunt’s Ice House.

In October 2014, Lauren traveled to China to participate in two very different but archivally-related conferences, and she will be sharing photos, reflections and food stories. Please feel free to bring your own international conference or Asian travel stories to share as well.
